I do agree that words often don't matter, because they can be steered too easily towards what you want. Thus the importance of never seeding bias into the conversation! Problem is, that bias is often added, you're right - sometimes accidentally (bad question-asking skills), and sometimes purposefully (trying to force a given answer). Either way, definitely a problem.

Though, metrics also can be distorted. E.g., someone left this video about Simpson's Paradox on a different article of mine: https://youtu.be/sxYrzzy3cq8?si=jdj-vyZzxKlgGeyR Again, can be accidental or purposeful, but you still have to be careful with numbers to make sure they're telling the right story too! All that being said, yes, to the example you called out, if nobody is using a feature, the metrics will certainly show that!
